Seniors Group

The program for older adults has as its main objective to provide older adults with the knowledge and opportunities to increase socialization and well-being among their peers, develop assertive communication skills, promote integration and social inclusion, equality, generating the skills to face the discrimination against the elderly.

For 10 years this project has received funding from the Canadian government through the New Horizons for Seniors Program and is successfully developed through weekly face-to-face meetings with workshops, guest speakers, panels and forums. Since the pandemic, the program has been carried out using digital systems, with the full participation of people, causing a leap to virtual technology for the elderly.

This program proposes to study social isolation and loneliness and to create greater awareness of the importance of these risks for your mental health, which affects a significant part of the world's population.

In addition, the program educates on the fundamentals of healthy aging, to allow the person to maintain a state of harmony, positive attitude and emotional well-being in their social and family environment. In addition, this educational process transmits the knowledge of aging as a physiological process that must be assumed as normal. This acceptance is of utmost importance to develop an attitude of resilience without affecting the quality of life.
